The security situation in Yemen continues to deteriorate, with the British Embassy now taking steps to evacuate all staff and temporarily suspend operations. The closing of the embassy is the latest indication of Yemen slipping further towards becoming a 'failed state' after Shia Houthi rebels took control of the country recently.
The US has also closed down its embassy in the capital Sana'a and is evacuating all staff. International flights continue to operate out of Sana'a and Aden, but the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office advise against all travel to the country.
